PORTFOLIO - Ryan Fitton (Old)
This is the old version of my website from October 2008 to July 2009, it is a simple and easy to use personal website with a twitter feed and photo album. This website was my first project at making a professional looking website using PHP, this is a scripting language which enables you to make powerful additions to a website without a lot of coding and this improves the interaction with users to the website.
Because it was my first project I wanted to keep it simple, this is why I have used a standard box type layout; using CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) to add style and sophistication to the website, the background on the website will be random each time out of a total of three images (However this can be an unlimited amount) which help make the website seem up to date; also to help this website seem up to date I have also added a twitter feed on the homepage; both of these two interactive elements are powered by PHP.
I have kept the colour scheme simple and minimalist; however the website does not seem very bland and empty; because I have used gradients throughout to help make the website seem interesting.
I have added a photo album to this website, when viewing a topic's album a number of thumbnails will appear clicking on these thumbnails will show a larger image of the selected photo. This is something that I have kept for the new design of my website; I feel that this is a functional element of the website. I also think that by having a photo album on my website; then clients can feel in touch with me and my interests; it builds a personal relationship with a user on the website.
All of the code on the website is W3C XHTML 1.0 Transitional and W3C CSS 2.1 valid, this means that the website will show correctly on all modern internet browsers.
